Over the past 3 days MGS has had hundreds of special guests visit during Special Person's/Grandparents' Day for K-4! We wanted to take a moment to spotlight just some of the people involved in making this event a success. Mrs. Karcher, Mrs. Foster, Mrs. Aeschliman and Kari Dalpiaz with PTO lead the planning efforts to bring this special day to life. Mr. Uzelac, our lead custodian, also had to put in several additional hours getting the school and supplies in place. Our food service staff made nearly 1,000 cinnamon rolls!! Finally, the parent volunteers and our PTO for helping run the event-- THANK YOU ALL!!

Today 6th graders debated Sparta versus Athens in Mr. Caruso’s 6th grade social studies class.

Did you know MTHS offers preschool? The Metamora high school students teach the program! The program runs Feb 18th -May 2nd. Please see the attached flyer for more details!

The 4th grade students had the privilege of learning about Mr. Oplt and Mrs. Stephen's time in the military. We are so grateful for their service.

The Band and Color Guard were proud to Honor our Veterans at our assembly on today. Thank you for your service and dedication!

7th Grade enjoyed the visit from Dr Lee and showed him how to play the logic game Match Madness. Best quote of the day "Can I play again-Dr. Lee!"

The front lawn is going to be treated Saturday morning November 9th.

Members of the State Champion Cross Country team were recognized by the Board of Education for their tremendous efforts and accomplishments for bringing home the first ever Girls Cross Country team champion for MGS!

Congrats to our Remarkable Redbirds! These students were recognized at last night's Board meeting for demonstrating problem solving, responsibility, empathy and perseverance!

Congratulations to Nathan Lamkin, Rachel Gregait, Miles Vogel, Emma Griffiths, Derek Zimmerman, Ethan Brattvet and Landon Peterson who were accepted to represent MGS at the Geneseo Middle School Honor Band Festival!

What a talented group of dancers! Germantown Hills dance team joined with Metamora to practice for the Nets for Vets performance. Come out Friday to support your basketball teams and watch these amazing dancers perform at the halftime of the 8th grade girls game.

7th Grade SS students participated in the Electoral College Voting process... the Oreo Party vs. Chocolate Chip Party. Students campaigned for votes, voted anonymously, compared popular vs. electoral votes, and debated for and against the benefits of the Electoral College.

Ms. Vogel's kindergarten class invited a local veteran in to talk about his 27 year career in the Air Force. Mr. Bob Reed brought in some gear for us to try on and see first hand. We hope to see more Veterans at our assembly this Monday. 🇺🇸

There will be NO SCHOOL on Tuesday, November 5th due to the Election.

Mrs. Brown and Miss Huntsman's 4th Grade ELA classes enjoyed reading different biographies during October. The students shared the information they learned through an oral presentation to their class. The students always love dressing up and sharing what they have learned from their books.

These future voters may not be old enough to cast their ballots yet, but today they got to take a virtual trip through a polling place. They saw electronic and manual voting methods, saw an electoral college map, and watched as people voted.

Thanks so much to the pep band for performing at the basketball game last night. You sounded great!

On Veterans Day, November 11, school will be in session so our students can learn about and show their respect for veterans and current members of the military. We will have a special assembly in appreciation of all veterans at 9:00 a.m. the morning of Monday, November 11. The assembly will include a speech by a local veteran and students’ musical performances honoring military service in the past and present. As part of the program, we will recognize the veterans of our MGS families and MGS staff. We want to invite every veteran or current military member who is a parent, sibling, or grandparent of an MGS student. We appreciate your help extending the invitation to these veterans to attend the MGS Veterans Day assembly so we may show them our gratitude for their service and sacrifice. We ask that our invited guests arrive at MGS between 8:30 and 8:45 a.m. MGS will provide assistance getting into the building and to your seats that morning. All veterans and their relatives may enjoy a reception in the foyer following the ceremony.
Please click on the link https://forms.gle/iGfvzcZwQU41edda9 and fill out the form by Friday, November 1, so we know how many veterans plan to attend the assembly.

Mrs. Kings class celebrated the 50th day of school by wearing our 50's style glasses, learning a little bit about what life was like in 1950, doing activities with the number 50, writing about how to make and of course enjoy a 1950's treat...root beer floats!
