Teaching takes heart

By Morgan Hart

As an 8th grader at MGS, I have gotten to know a lot of the staff at our school. Giving an inside look at what being a student at MGS is like, let me share some information about Mrs. Lelm

  • Mrs. Lelm: 7th grade science teacher, FCS leader, & cheer coach

  1. Favorite memory from this school year so far:

I don’t have a favorite “memory”, specifically.  I would say most days are really good days with my students! :)

  1. Favorite part of your job:

For science class~demonstrations, discussions, and review games

For FCS (Fellowship of Christian Students)~watching students learn God’s word together

For Cheer Coaching~watching the team grow stronger in leadership, memory, strength, and stunting skills

  1. What are some science experiments that you have done with your students so far this year? Can you share some upcoming labs that you are excited about doing?

We have done some fun ones, but the biggies are a frog dissection and an electrical circuit board/lazer lab coming up.

  1. Favorite topic in science:

Biology- Cells and the Human Body Interactions

  1. What are some of your favorite things about coaching cheer?

I enjoy being able to watch the boys that I teach play basketball while watching the girls work together during each game.  They have been SO entertaining and fun to get to know! :)  I try to take good care of them!

  1. Lastly, what is one piece of advice that you would like to share with people?

Ha ha. :) I know that the students know that I do some “encouraging” in class sometimes.  I guess I would say that we all have something to bring to life’s table each day…let’s try to make sure it’s “good fruit”. :)
