You may have seen some pictures already pop up on regarding a few of our Remarkable Redbird Winners. Here is what MGS is doing to honor some of our students.
We would like to introduce parents to a new recognition program for students in grades 5-8 sponsored by Metamora Grade School PTO called Remarkable Redbirds. Similar to the PTO sponsored Redbird Coupon Store program for students in grades k-4, the Remarkable Redbirds program seeks to recognize students’ efforts beyond just academics and emphasizes the following:
Being Respectful
Showing Effort
Being a Decision Maker
Being Safe
Showing Integrity
Being Responsible
Showing Diversity
Participating in community service
Each month, teachers will nominate one student from their class(es). One student per grade will then be selected from those nominated and will receive a $10 gift card to a local restaurant. At the end of the year, all of the students who were selected throughout the year will then be put in a drawing to win a $100 Amazon gift card.
Something as simple as helping another student open his or her locker or helping pick up litter outside on the playground would be worthy of a nomination. If your child struggles to keep up with homework assignments and demonstrates the ability to work hard toward being on time consistently, it is possible to be nominated. It need not be an act that stands out to everyone in the school. Parents can help too by encouraging their children to always put forth their best effort, to seek to have positive peer interactions, and to be good members of the Metamora Grade School Community. We want every student to feel a sense of value in contributing to our Metamora Grade School community no matter how big or small the action.
We will be posting our October winners for 6th grade on Thursday, November 11th and our 5th grade winners on Friday, November 12th. Look for more winners in the weeks and months to come.
