The Metamora CCSD #1 site footprint grew by half an acre this summer after the Board of Education took advantage of a rare opportunity to purchase 901 E. Partridge. The district will demolish the structure and utilize the green space. Future use will be at the discretion of the Board based on the evolving needs of the district.
The Education Fund was not used for the $118,900 purpose. Not only that, no levied property tax dollars at all were used for the purchase. Every dollar used on this project comes from the Capital Improvement Fund, fed by the one-cent Woodford County Facility Sales Tax. Metamora CCSD #1 receives approximately $40,000 monthly from this revenue source, which is restricted to site based improvements for schools and distributed to all school districts in Woodford County on a per-pupil basis. Therefore, no money was diverted from student learning, staff compensation or program operations.
A 2022 facility appraisal completed by the district showed the current site is significantly smaller than the recommended size for educational needs as defined by state and local requirements. MGS sat on 13.4 acres prior to the recent purchase. The property last changed owners in 1986.
